EVERYDAY PROBLEMS
...and how to solve them

The everyday problems I face are also the network-realted . After recording at another location, the Studiolive 16 mixer (from Presonus) no longer wants to connect to a computer (Windows OS). Previously, of course, everything worked smooth as butter. I worked on projects in DAW mode with great pleasure. This means that the computer and the mixer both understand each other and I can manage the project in Studio One via an external mixer (Studiolive16 Series III). Now we have a problem. My DAW – or digital audio station, or put more plainly, the audio production software, is currently not communicating with the computer. We need this to synchronously send signals between the mixing board and the project in the software on a computer. The StudioLive III mixer has its own control panel (better known as Universal Control), in which the network can be set up, in addition to all other settings.

We can choose between dynamic mode, static self assigned IP, or we can set it up manually (also static). With the network settings on the computer, we have the DHCP (dynamic) and static IP address configuration options. The StudioLive III mixer has a control panel (Universal Control), in which the network can be set up, in addition to all other settings. We check the communication using the “ping + IP address” command at the command prompt. If the thing doesn’t work, you get a break that the destination is out of reach. The configuration is done by connecting the mixer and computer to the
Ethernet guide and configuring a static ad hoc connection as a subnet
next to a wifi connection that provides a connection to the world of the
Internet. After checking all possible configuration methods, restart
the computer and mixer several times, update the network driver, flushas
dns, although you know that this should have nothing to do – you go
write a blog post.  However, after you take a picture of the network
connector, you find that you plugged the ethernet cable into the wrong connection. The Control input is the correct connection, not the Audio Network. At least for the DAW mode. The IP configuration I set up now works flawlessly and I can finally go back to work on the sound through motorized faders on the mixer. Satisfaction has
returned. Note to self:  Check the connections first before doing an elaborate study
on the topic of computer networks.
